Shatter the stigma! May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Millions of people throughout the United States will receive awareness through local physicians, screenings, and media. One simple way to show support is by wearing a green ribbon. Mental Health Awareness Month is an outreach project to educate the public about mental illnesses such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to name a few.
Cherie May Edwards, LPC-S is the owner of Work in Progress, LLC Counseling Services. She is a licensed professional counselor with more than 15 years of experience working with clients (ages 4 and up) from diverse backgrounds. Cherie completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1994. She graduated with a Masters in Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005. Cherie has been a counseling supervisor since 2015.
While Cherie provides treatment in many common areas such as anxiety, depression, divorce recovery, and grief, she has advance training and/or significant experience in the treatment of bipolar disorder, codependency, and substance abuse.
Cherie is also a CERTIFIED EMDR clinician, specializing in Trauma, PTSD, and Minority Health issues.
