Kanye West spent more than three hours prognosticating about politics and personal life on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, over the weekend.
The nearly three hour podcast covers an array of topics, most of which direct back to Ye’s 2020 Birthday Party presidential campaign. West contends his political career was a “calling to be the leader of the free world,” from God.
“I’m not here to down Trump or down Biden, I’m just here to express why God has called me to take this position,” he expressed to Rogan. “I’m a great leader because I listen and I’m empathetic. I do believe in world peace.”
Rogan best wrangled the rapper’s thoughts when focusing questions on the coronavirus. West contracted COVID-19 in February and made a full recovery. So, how would President Kanye West respond to the international pandemic?
“I had the virus and I was sitting in quarantine in my house and my cousin texts me about being prepared to run for president. And I just completely put it off to the side ‘cause I was like shivering and having the shakes and taking hot showers and eating soup. [Coronavirus] threw everyone off. It threw everybody’s plans off.
And then it was just this calling on my heart.”
Kanye has only made the ballot in 12 states and reposted pictures of fans voting for the Birthday party. He has yet to conduct a political rally and produced just one advertisement. His path to 270 electoral votes also faces financial strain. Journalist Ben Jacobs reports West has only raised $2,782 in campaign funds since September.
